Given of all last week’s Olympic excellence by Team GB, it would be churlish to pick on the shortcomings of the Southern Britain Representational XI – but the chiefs at the Football Ramble do pay me by the churl, so we’re just going to have to deal it. Before we get into it with Stuart Pearce’s blue and blue and darker blue army, here’s an illustrative gentle shoeing of the performance of the GB Men’s Basketball Team. I assure you this is going somewhere.
Great Britain’s basketballers went into Thursday’s match against Spain winless, listless and hopeless. As the game progressed however, it became clear that Spain – the consensus choice as second best team in the world after Team USA’s superstar laden collection of dunking deities – had prepared for the manageable onslaught of Team GB with all the diligence of a dad who’s fallen asleep while watching Ski Sunday before taking on his five-year-old in a back garden kickabout.
