La dolorosa vita

To say that AC Milan are experiencing a difficult start to the season would be an understatement so crass and moronic it might well have been written as an official press release from the desk of Silvio Berlusconi himself. From a position last season where they were just pipped to the Serie A title by a Juventus team who lost as many games as Zlatan Ibrahimović has made sincere apologies in his lifetime, Milan now find themselves flirting with the nascent relegation zone with only three points and a growing sense of panic for company. European competition offers no comfort as the Rossoneri contemplate how lucky they’ll be to scrape into the Europa League post-Christmas from a Champions League group featuring two debutants and an Anderlecht team who are, frankly, from Belgium. To cap it all, their best hope of turning all this around is having someone hand Bojan Kirkić a copy of Football Manager 2009 and patiently explain to him that he’s meant to be one of the best strikers in the world by now.
So where did it all go wrong?
